Driver Seriously Injured in Fairbanks Car Accident

E-mail

Driving at a high rate of speed may seem to be a good decision when attempting to save time, but the fact of the matter is that it only increases the risk and danger faced by everyone in the area at the time.  Unfortunately, it appears that one motorist who was moving at such a high rate of speed and who ran a red light wound up colliding with another driver head-on, badly injuring him in a Fairbanks car accident.

According to police, the latest Fairbanks car accident occurred yesterday morning at 8:15 a.m. when Russell Gilmore, 25, of Fairbanks was driving his Nissan from the Johanson Expressway.  He failed to stop for a red light at University Avenue, and wound up colliding with Kevin Walsh, 57, of Fairbanks, who was turning onto University Avenue from Geist Road at the same time.  Mr. Walsh had to be extricated from his vehicle by rescue workers and suffered serious injuries to his neck and back.  Fortunately, both drivers were wearing seat belts, and that could have saved at least one life.

Alaska Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our hope that the man who was badly injured is able to recover from the harm he suffered and that he recovers quickly.  In addition, this Fairbanks car accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Alaska car accidents.  Every year, almost two people every week are killed in these occurrences, and this number has held steady over the course of recent years.

It seems, based on the available facts, that the driver who was speeding and who ran a red light is at fault for this Fairbanks car accident.  If that's the case, it could lead to the filing of an Alaska personal injury lawsuit against that driver by the man who was injured.  If such a lawsuit is filed and is successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensate the man for his medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.
