Anchorage Car Accident Leads to Brawl, Shots Fired

E-mail

When Alaska car accidents occur, they tend to give rise to sometimes intense emotions on the part of those who were involved.  Sometimes, these emotions lead to additional problems, as appeared to be the case with an Anchorage car accident that occurred in the early hours of yesterday when three vehicles were involved in a collision that led to shots being fired, blows being exchanged and a search for the occupants of one of the vehicles involved.

According to police, the latest Anchorage car accident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. yesterday morning when three vehicles were headed in an eastbound direction on 5th Avenue waiting to turn on to Mountain View Drive.  The rear vehicle collided with the second vehicle, which in turn collided with the front vehicle.  As the parties involved made contact with each other after the accident, four Asian males got out of the rear vehicle, fired shots and exchanged blows with others involved. The rear vehicle then fled the scene, and police are actively searching for what was described as a black SUV.

Alaska Car Accident Statistics

First, we'd like to extend our hope that those who were injured in this Anchorage car accident are able to recover from their injuries and that those who fled the scene are found.  In addition, it should be a relief that no one was killed, as is always a possibility when shots are fired.  In addition, this incident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Alaska car accidents.  Every year, more than 10,000 such incidents occur, leading to more than 3,000 injuries and nearly 100 deaths.

Clearly, the first step that must be taken is for those occupying the rear vehicle to be apprehended, which is more often than not what occurs.  Secondly, regardless of any criminal charges, it's possible for those who were harmed to file Alaska personal injury lawsuits on the basis of the collision and for battery and assault.  This could lead to damages awards that include compensation for any losses incurred as well as pain and suffering and perhaps even punitive damages given the intentional conduct involved.

If you or someone you love has been harmed by someone else, you need to seek the help of Alaska car accident lawyers who have been successfully fighting for the rights of those harmed for many years.  Contact Barber & Banker today at (800) 478-5858 to schedule a free initial consultation.
