According to the Anchorage Daily News:
"Police say a 25-year-old Anchorage woman faces charges of drunken driving and other offenses after crashing into another vehicle and then a horse-drawn carriage in downtown Anchorage on Saturday evening. Two pedestrians on the sidewalk were taken to the hospital.
It all started around 8 p.m. Shannon Haggitt, driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup, was exiting the parking lot of the Westmark Hotel, police said.
According to Anchorage police Lt. Dave Parker, her truck hit a Volkswagen, and the driver of the Volkswagen got out and walked over to the driver's side door to talk about what happened.
At that point, she accelerated, Parker said Sunday, "and her vehicle scooted out of one accident, then struck the carriage broadside, driving the carriage onto the sidewalk, pinning a woman behind it and striking a man."
Fortunately, no one was killed in the incident. In addition to criminal liability, the woman could face civil actions from those who were wrongfully injured.
